Syed Mansoor Hussain on the APPNA Plaque
Last one for the night. It’s an opinion piece by Syed Mansoor Hussain regarding the plaque that was published in the The Daily Times. Again, I am posting this here for your information and I do not agree or disagree with the view point. I find it interesting how the story seems to be developing. I think tomorrow I will probably end up formally asking Dr. Husain Malik, President of APPNA, to step down.

Desktop Search Tools & New Search Features
I was taking a break from studying and started digging through my old emails for an old document I had written a while ago. For those of you who don’t know, I have saved every email that I ever recieved or sent (unless it’s spam) since 1994. Actually, I only get maybe one spam email every 2 weeks or so across 8 different email addresses, so it’s not that bad at all. Anyway, being able to sift through almost 85,000 emails has always been a pain until the whole Desktop Search Revolution. In the end I settled on MSN Desktop Search because it can index almost any kind of file I can find an iFilter (more here) for. The Microsoft developers have a fairly active weblog for their search product that I check for neat new tricks.

Google Rides & Gmail Upgrades
So Google announced today that they have a slick new service which allows users to find the location of taxis and shuttles in real time. The service is called Google Ride Finder and it’s worth a look. Although only a few large cities are supported at the moment, it shows a lot of promise.
Additionally, looks like GMail is upgrading to 2GB of storage for their users! They have a nice little javascript counter on their homepage which is slowly inching up to the desired mark.
Couple that with Google’s new mapping service and there is very little reason to go anywhere else on the internet.
